Nipple Nodule in a Young Girl: Causes & When to Worry
QuestionHello,
I have a very healthy seven-year-old daughter (we're African-American). A few days ago she came to me complaining of a swelling in her left nipple area. I examined it and felt something right behind the nipple that was about the size of a pea. She says this nodule is not really painful, but feels sensitive when she touches it. I have read that these nodules are somewhat common in girls about to develop breasts, but she is so young. Is this something to be concerned about or to have our pediatrician take a look at? Thank you for your help and for volunteering on this forum!

AnswerDear Lamelia, THis is something that you DEFINATELY must see your pediatrician about.... I doubt seriously if this is cancer, but it would be a cyst, an infection etc and she needs to be properly diagnosed and treated....
Make the appointment and get her in asap....
Thank you, karen
