Persistent Breast Lump with Unclear Imaging: What Are My Options?

Question
I have a lump in the lower outside part of my left breast.  I've had it examined several times and have had a mammography, ultrasound and an mri, but with no results.  The doctor clearly feels it, as well as myself.  Their is some symmetry on the other breast but with out the lump.  The doctor isn't sure what it is and says we can wait and watch it, but also has stated that we can remove it.  Since it hasn't shrunk from the primrose oil, she cannot unequivocably state that it's just fibrous tissue,  What could it be and what's the likelihood it could be cancer.  Thank you very much for your help.

Answer
I have not examined you, reviewed the medical record, associated laboratory studies, or imaging. What follows is offered to you for information purposes, only and does not constitute treatment.  I advise an examination from a qualified healthcare professional before undertaking any course of treatment.

Ten to fifteen percent of all cancerous lumps will have non-diagnostic imaging.  That does not mean that ten to fifteen percent of all lumps are cancer.  They are not, but you and your physician must have a dialogue and a plan.  You need to be comfortable with your physician.  If you are in doubt, seek a second opinion.  This is the best I can advise.
