Paternity & Due Date Uncertainty: Understanding Potential Pregnancy

Question
Hi.
I broke up with my long term boyfriend in April.  I dated another man in May and we had intercourse around May 23.
On June 2, when I was expecting my period, I started bleeding and it lasted until June 7.  Nothing seemed odd about it and I experienced what seemed to be normal flow. I used tampons and the blood was red. I assume it was my period.
I got back together with my boyfriend a few days after my period ended and we had intercourse several times from June 10 on.
I discovered I was pregnant at the beginning of July.
My doctor gave me a due date of March 9, 2010.
I had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and my doctor said the baby was measuring normal for 12 weeks.
I had another ultrasound at 17 weeks and based on this my due date was March 6, 2010 about the same as my LMP.
I have had no other bleeding at all since June 7.
Recently someone suggested I could get my period while pregnant or that it could have been implantation bleeding.

My questions:
Is there any possibility this baby could be from the man I had intercourse with on May 23?

Could it be possible I would have had to mistaken my period for some other type of bleeding?

At 12 weeks, could my doctor have possibly been mistaken and the fetus was actually around 3 weeks older?

Could the ultrasound measurements at 17 weeks be off by a few weeks?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Denise,
An early unltrasound (first 12 weeks) is accurate within 1 week.  So with a due date of March 9, you got pregnant June 16 plus or minus 1 week (June 9 to 23).  So there's no way you got pregnant in May.  It's possible to have some bleeding in early pregnancy, but an ultrasound at 12 weeks won't be more than 1 week off.  Forget any later ultrasounds as far as dates, as they're less accurate than the early one.  At 17 weeks it could be off by 2 weeks.  Best wishes.
