Nexplanon: Side Effects, Irregular Bleeding, and Alternatives

Hi I'm just needing a second opinion...
Is nexplanon right for me?
Ive been on BCP Beyaz.. Gained some
Weight, when I stopped taking it I had acne,
Eventually lost the 5lbs I gained. I have had
Irregular periods ever since I started having
Them that's been about 6 years now. I often go
Months and months with no sign of a menstraul
Cycle, ( even when I was taking BCP )
Would nexplanon make me have the weeks of bleeding?

Answer
The most common side effect of nexplanon is irregular bleeding, and it's the most common reason that women stop using nexplanon.  It's very effective for birth control, but not effective for controlling bleeding.  Birth control pills are generally the best thing we have to control periods and bleeding.  When a woman has side effects from one birth control pill, she can often find another that works for her without side effects.  Most pills help with acne.  When weight gain is a problem, finding a pill that is low estrogen, low progestin is usually helpful, such as Alesse or Loestrin 1/20.
