Questioni had undergone a Manual Vacuum Aspiration procedure on Tuesday May 19th. i know it has only been two days but i felt like i needed to see a pregnancy test show up negative to know that it was for real. I am not sure that my choice of having an abortion was the right thing to do, and i just needed it to be real. is it possible that the abortion didn't work? my pregnancy test is still showing up positive? i go for a follow up in three weeks but i needed to know if it is possible? thank you very much.
AnswerHi, Casey,
Sometimes an abortion doesn't work. It's hard to say in your case, because at this point, probably nobody knows. If they looked at what they got, they may know, but obviously if they didn't get everything, they're not likely to tell you. Depending on how far along you were, it can be easy to miss.
Now that you are not sure that your decision was the right one, I just want to let you know I am here if you need to talk about it.
Usually, a pregnancy test doesn't just suddenly drop to negative. It takes awhile for the hormones to adjust. Abortion is a violent disruption of the hormones to begin with, and there are many factors involved. Among those would be how far along you were at the time.
You might want to seriously consider going to someone else. You don't need to wait three weeks if you don't want to. But as a general rule, people who do abortions cannot be trusted to look out after your safety in a meaningful way. This is because abortion is considered medically unethical, and they're not treating a medical condition. In other words, they are subjecting you to needless risk. In medicine, doctors try to determine whether treatment is safer than leaving a condition alone. They don't make that determination in abortion, because almost always, there is no medical abnormality.
Please do come back and let me know how you do. I am here for you, and I am concerned that you made a decision you now regret. I will say a prayer for you. Take care of yourself!
