Questionis it safe to have meftal spas for pain caused due to MTP
AnswerHello, aashi,
In a word, No. It is NOT safe to take this medication. MTP to begin with is not safe. It kills a lot of women in India, usually from bleeding to death.
Meftal spas is intended to treat pain due to spasm in the intestinal tract. It doesn't have anything to do with the uterus to begin with. The pain you are experiencing is because with MTP, you have to go through labor. It's that simple. You don't want to use anything to decrease the pain simply because the uterus is clamping down, and that is desirable to keep you from bleeding too much. Anything you do to decrease the clamping down could cause hemorrhage. Unfortunately, MTP sometimes ruptures the uterus because the contractions are too strong, and there is no way to control that.
Right now, it's summer (and usually hot in India anyway). During summer, meftal spas can cause heat prostration. It can cause a number of other problems as well. You can get more information here:

MTP usually makes use of two different drugs. The second drug is not supposed to be given to pregnant women, ever. The manufacturer specifically warns about this. In addition to causing a woman to bleed to death, it can cause her to die from a nasty infection. In that case, it only takes hours to kill a woman, once symptoms start. MTP also makes a woman much more likely to get breast cancer while she is still young, such as in her 30's. This type of breast cancer is especially nasty, and kills 1/4 of its victims. If you have a close relative who has had breast cancer, then you are almost certain to get it. In general, MTP is UNETHICAL, and no doctor who truly cares about his patients would EVER prescribe it.
If the pain is more than you can bear, I recommend you go see a doctor. Do NOT go to a doctor who thinks giving MTP to a pregnant woman is acceptable. That person not only doesn't believe in medical ethics, but usually will have poor medical judgment.
If you need a recommendation for a good doctor, let me know what part of India you are in, and I'll see if I can find resources for you. I don't have information for northern India, but there are some organizations in some of the cities in southern India which can help. They may know someone in norther India as well.
Please take care of yourself. I'm sorry about the pain, but there really isn't anything SAFE you can do about it. Let me know how you do.
