Understanding Post-Medical Abortion Clots: What to Expect

I took the first pill of the medical abortion on Monday 21st March and the 2nd pills on 22nd March.  I had severe cramping beginning about 40mins after I took the 2nd pills. The bleeding began that night, but now nearly a week later I have started to pass clots which look like chicken livers (this is the only way I can describe them). I have very little cramping but a lot of bleeding, is this normal?

This can be normal.  The fact that you have no cramping is of concern.  We usually have our patient call us if the bleeding gets heavier.  We provide a second dose of Misoprostol to treat this.  You may want to call your doctor if the bleeding does not decrease in amount.
