Combining Hot Stone & Swedish Massage: Is It Safe & Beneficial?
QuestionI HAVE A CLIENT WHO WOULD LIKE TO GET A ONE HOUR HOT STONE MASSAGE FOLLOWED BY A REGULAR ONE HOUR MASSAGE. IS THERE ANY EASON THIS WOULD BE A BAD IDEA?
AnswerHello, Lisa!
Given the absence of any medical contraindications, I would say no there is no reason this would be a bad idea. The standard cautions about proper temperature of the stones would apply of course, but this might be a great warm up for some deeper work in the 2nd hour. I do 2 hour massages all the time and the only issues I run into is the client's sinuses getting stuffy if they are face down too long! Just turn them over every half hour or so and you'll be fine. They'll be like putty in your hands by the end of it!
Best Wishes
