QuestionQUESTION: I am looking at purchasing a professional acrylic nail kit for my own use. From best to worst, which manufacturers are your favorites as far as durability and ease of application?
ANSWER: i am really sorry leslie, it would b unprofessional of me and against the code of ethics for me to recommend that u purchase professional nail products to use without any training.
i hope i dont offend you, but the art of applying acrylic nails is so much more than putting the product on the nail and filing it.
please take a look at the website thenailgeek.com
it will have lots of posts asking the same question you have asked, do a search.
if u want to do this to save money, which i can understand, having ur nails done professionally isnt cheap; mayb approach some local nail colleges 2 see if they need any models.
im always desperate for nail models for my students!
that way u will also b able to witness how the new students get on with the application techniques.
you never know, u may fancy taking a course, and then u can get some pro products and you're off & away!
good luck, liza

QUESTION: My need is really because of all the professionals I have tried recently cause way too much pain. My nails are very thin and can't withstand the sanding machines. people that file by hand have caused too much bleeding. I had a great person for years who retired and I was never able to replace her. I have gone to new people only based on recommendations and it still has not worked out. I have always used some of the best salons in town and ask for recommendations repeatedly but have not come up with any leads.
I am a charity fundraiser and must have my appearance as polished as possible but don't have time for a class.
I need a true artist like the one I lost.
Answerbless you for knowing the difference between a nail artist and the rest.
where are you based and i will try to guide you in the right direction.
drills and hand files can do equal damage in inexperienced hands, so your experiences are not unusual.
if you live outside the uk, then it may be quicker for you to post on the nailgeek.com for a nail artist closest to u.
let me know either way
