Research Questions for an I-Search Essay on Nail Technology

Question
I am doing an i-search essay for english and I am doing it on a nail technician.  I need 3 sources and I have to prove my sources are an expert which I have that info I need for you but I needed you to answer a few questions for me if yo could.  My 3 questions are what are the different types of artificial nails?  which type do you consider to be the best? (which will hold up the best and longest) and does it take the same amount of time to put a full set of nails on for each type of nail? (and how long does it take)
if you could answer as soon as possible i would appriciate it.

Answer
Amanda,
Good luck with your research!
Okay, there are quite a few types of artificial enhancements. The most common are liquid and powder(L&P) OR acrylic and gel nails. There is also glue and powder, fiberglass, silk and linen wraps.
Each tech will think what she does is the best. Actually what is best is different for each client. I may have one client in gel and others in liquid and powder. (actually I do, but I have more in L&P than in gels)
L&P has an odor and gels are odorless. Each now come in colors and a myriad of funky things like sparkles, confetti and other things embedded in the product.
L&P cures by air and gels are cured by a UV light.
I prefer to use my L&P. The brand I use is Entity. If you choose to patronize the cheap shops, you do not know what they use and it is likely MMA. (see my site http://salon29.net and read WHAT IS ON YOUR NAILS?)
Nails can be done with tips or sculpted out. This also depends on the tech and the client. I need to see the client before I decide what I am going to use on her.
Also, depending on WHAT you are doing to the client will determine the length of time it takes. If they just want polish, I likely will tip them, apply the product finish and polish. Takes about an hour.
Pink and Whites take a bit longer. They are what you see on my profile photo. Most of my clients are in these nails.
The time for each client also depends on how the client is. If she is relaxed, it takes less time. If the client is stiff and will not loosen up, it takes longer. Some techs use an electric file--NOT A DREMEL-- and that helps to go faster. Others hand file and it could be longer.
How the nails hold up also depends on how the tech preps the nails but the real determining factor is how the client treats her nails.
I have NO lifting with my clients and my nails do not "pop" off!!
Drop me a line from my website if you have any more questions.
Sure hope I helped you!
Buenos dias,
Lynnette
