Achieve Glossy Lips Without Lip Gloss: Expert Tips & Tricks

Adding a shine to your lip colour is something that can instantly up the glam quotient. However, too much gloss can feel really sticky especially if it’s summer. No matter what brand of lip gloss you go for, trying to wear too much of it for shine will not look too great.

The ideal scenario would be to get glossy and shiny lips without a sticky gloss. This does not always have to mean that you pile on the glossy products. Using some smart techniques, you can easily achieve a high shine look for your lips, without them feeling stick or over the top.

The tutorial shown here will tell you how to turn your normal lipstick into one that gives a glossy finish. This is in fact a small trick of illusion where you will not have to use any gloss at all!

Things you will need for this look are very easily available:

1. A lip liner of your choice that goes with the lip shade you are planning to wear
2. A lipstick of your choice
3. A shimmer metallic silver eye shadow or loose shimmer glitters
4. A lip-gloss of your choice

Procedure 1: Using Shimmer Metallic Silver Eye Shadow

Step 1:

Wear the liner properly with clear demarcations of the lip’s natural outline.

Step 2:

Wear your lipstick as you would normally wear it

Step 3:

For this step, you will need to use either your finger tips or a sponge applicator

Start applying the shimmer metallic silver eye shadow on the centre of the lower lips.

Step 4:

• Spread the shimmer metallic eye shadow on the center area of the lips
• Now spread it a little to the left and right.
• Apply the same eye shadow on to the “V” of the upper lip cupid’s arrow.
• Do not cover the whole lips with shimmer eye shadow.
• Pat it a bit to help the shadow set properly
• You have a shimmer finish on your lips that looks like a lip gloss application.

Caution: Too much use of eye shadow on the lips can be harmful. You can use shimmer glitters instead, but they should be used in very little amount.

Procedure 2: Using Lip gloss

For this procedure, the steps are very simple. You need your normal lip gloss. Using a simple trick you can get a completely glossy look without applying gloss on the entire space of your lips.

Step 1:

• Take a brush and dip it in your lip gloss
• Put a dollop of the gloss at the centre of the lower lips
• Now spread it slightly to the left and right.
• Do not apply any more lip gloss on the lower lips.

Step 2:

• Apply the lip gloss on to the “V” shape of the cupid’s arrow.
• Do not apply any more lipstick on the upper lips.

The way you apply your lip gloss will help create the illusion of having applied lip gloss on the entire lips. These techniques are great for the summers where you can have glossy lips without actually using too much gloss. It is also great for those who do not particularly like wearing a lip gloss because of its sticky texture.
