QuestionI am 19,female.I have recently found that I have dry patches of skin on my face, especially the cheek area.I have tried using combination skin products but they leave my skin irritated though treated. When I use sensitve and dry skin products the problem is treated for a short period then returns but makes my skin oily.I would like to know how I can treated withouot creating other problems
AnswerHello Mbali,
I would recommend you to use raw Shea butter on the dry patches and use a natural moisturizer on the rest of your face. Raw Shea butter is very moisturizing and healing, so it should help to heal the dry patches. It sounds like you haven't used good products for your skin as the irritation and the oiliness are your skin's reactions to the products you use: in plain words, your skin DOESN'T like these products. So it doesn't matter what's written on the packaging of the product you choose: try it and if your skin doesn't like it, trash it and try another one. Just go with the feeling.
I don't know what kind of beauty brands you have at home, but you may want to try Weleda or Dr Hauschka moisturizers or something similar (no chemicals, no parabens, no artificial perfumes).
In parallel, I would really recommend you to investigate the causes of your skin's dryness. Try to remember when it started and find out what changed in your life at that time: new diet? new relationship? new medicine (birth control pill)? or something. Then eliminate anything you think may have caused the disbalance in your skin.
I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
