QuestionQUESTION: I am 31 years old, married with 2 kids (6 & 4 y/o). Whenever i go out with my husband, i always hear people saying i am older than my husband well in fact he is 3 years older than me. Same thing when i go out with my younger sisters, people will always say i'm their mother. It hurts me a lot whenever i hear those.. There are also times that young people will call me Aunt instead of sister though our age gap is near.It is because my skin looks older than my age. There are times, i'd rather go out alone, in order to evade those comparisons.
I barely go for a facial, never uses toners/night creams and only uses lipstick whenever i go to the office. Can you please help me? I want my skin looks younger and doesn't like to hear those heart breaking words anymore.
Thank you & best regards!
Ferly
ANSWER: Dear Ferly~
I hear your pain. It's never too late to turn back the clock on aging. You can reverse the signs of aging in many cases. Here is a general skin care routine I recommend for anyone wanting to look more youthful...
AM: Apply Daytime moisturizer with at least an SPF of 15 and an under eye cream.
PM: Cleanse, tone, apply anti-aging serum, under eye cream, then night cream after serum is absorbed.
There's no need to cleanse your skin again the a.m. unless you are acne-prone.
Be sure you exfoliate your skin every other day with a cleanser that gently exofliates. On alternate days just use a soap-free gentle cleanser.
Also....
1) Drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water daily to help keep your skin clear and hydrated.
2) Avoid sugar as much as possible. It's an inflammatory and it's aging!
3) Never skip sunscreen (even when it's cloudy) and wear a sun visor whenever possible.
4) Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night and take a nap whenever possible. Rest is excellent for the skin.
The most effective anti-aging ingredient is Retinol. Try to use a night serum that contains it. Roc Deep Wrinkle Serum is an excellent choice. As for which other products to recommend....there are so many I don't know where to begin. But, I do recommend Paula Begoun's book: Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter without Me" to guide you. More expensive does not necessarily mean better quality.
Best wishes, Ferly...moisturizing your skin day and night and drinking plenty of water will bring the glow of your youth back to your skin. You'll be amazed!

AnswerDear Ferly~
There are only three things that can help minimize the appearance of large pores:
1) A pore minimizer product. There are several. Just Google "most effective pore minimizer products" and you will find several. I don't know which are best, so I'm not sure what to recommend.
2) Microdermabrasion minimizes your pores by roughening up the skin, which loosens your dead skin cells. This procedure rejuvenates your face by massaging tiny micro-crystal particles into your skin. Another benefit of microdermabrasion is that it can stimulate collagen production, which is essential for healthy-looking skin. It usually takes two to three treatments to see a difference in pore appearance.
3) Laser resurfacing involves a laser omitting an intense beam that gently ablates skin tissue. Laser resurfacing treatment minimizes large pores, wrinkles, discolorations, and acne scars. The procedure also stimulates collagen production, which tones, lifts and tightens your face for a healthy feel and look.
Both Microdermabrasion Laser resurfacing are done by a dermatologist and are fairly quick procedures. You'll see greater results with either of these than you will with a skin cream or other over the counter product you would apply.
Best wishes, Ferly!
