Oily & Dry Skin: Balancing Your Complexion After Acne Treatment
QuestionHi
I used to have mild acne which was eventually fixed by antibiotics and differin gel which my dermatologist subscribed. I'm quite happy with my skin now because there are no pimples but I still have a problem. The skin on my forehead is often dry and flaky from the gel while my t-zone and some other parts of my face are always extremely oily. This is a problem when it comes to putting on foundation. It's so annoying! I've bought some blotting papers , should I get a toner? I'll buy anything that can stop the greasyness around my nose
As for my forehead, is it okay to exfoliate regularly?
I'm a 16 year old girl by the way so apparently this is common.
AnswerDear Katheren~
First of all, are you using an oil-free moisturizer with SPF 15 on your face daily? That is a must and will help eliminate the dryness on your forehead. If you use the Differin gel at night, there's no need to use it during the day. Just be sure to use an oil-free foundation and have a powder compact with you to touch up when you see or feel an oily breakthrough. The use of a toner, prior to applying your oil-free moisturizer is also a good idea. Blotting papers inbetween powder touchups are a super help, but with the oil-free moisturizer and foundation, I think you'll see a big improvement in the minimization of oil. You may also need to use an oil-free moisturizer at night if the dryness doesn't go away on your forehead.
Exfoliation of your entire face every three days is a good idea.
Best wishes, Katheren!
