Barbershop Chair Rental Rates & Profitability: A Guide for Non-Barbers
QuestionQUESTION: West Up Cleao! I am opening up barbershop here in Kali and I am not a barber. I got a boy who is a barber who is bringing his clientele to the shop. My question is what should I charge for renting the seat. I hear 150 to 250 a week. I'm trying to open a top notch neighborhood shop. Big Screens and higher end equipment. As a non barber and just a renter of seats what am I looking at in profit. I am opening up 6 chairs, with about 1200 rent.
ANSWER: What good trunk! It really all depends on you over head of the shop over head meaning the bills and cost of supplies you have to come out of pocket with also it depends on what the shop is bringing in when you first open it will be very slow you will not be established for at least a year KEEP THAT IN MIND! but once you are you figure 200 x 6 will cover the rent that will give you the 1200, but remember you have electricity and you need to get the money back that you put into the shop plus profit I think your prices will need to be a little high and/or you will need a 7th barber. even at 250.00 that is only 1500.00 that will cover your electric but you will still need to profit.

QUESTION: Cleao, I mean we charge 200 a week to rent the chairs. So that's about 1200 a week. So it's about 4800 a month. I am trying to figure out insurance, and other things that may start up. Also all the barbers I got have their own clientele so it's just them telling their clientele they are at a new place.
Answersorry about that I was not thinking but t hat would be good insurance is not that much and electricity is not that much technically you are only responsible for neck strips in your shop as far as supplies goes unless you and your barbers have a n agreement every shop I worked in the barbers are responsible for their own supplies except neck strips and hand sanitizer you should profit anywhere from 1500.00-3000.00 good luck with it let me know when you are about to open it up and if you have any more questions about this or anything else let me know
