Rescue Your Makeup: Fix Common Night-Out Mistakes
A sleep over at your friend’s place goes on till the wee hours or the night gets spent partying and club hopping. Party over. You end up at your friend’s place and crash. The next morning, the face in the mirror gives you quite the scare!
To be honest, we have all been there and gone through that oh-my-gosh-what-happened moment.
The usual trouble makers – dark big patches around the eyes, lipstick all smudged, makeup ruined. Ignoring to take off the makeup before going to be bed can lead to quite a disastrous start. Staying the night at someone else’s place can be a bit difficult, especially if you don’t have your things with you. A great way to ensure you always carry the basics is by carrying a basic overnight makeup pouch at all times. These will not only help in touch ups, but will also make sure you don’t face a disaster in the morning. Try and get travel sized or sample sized products as these will take less space.
Basic items to carry in a makeup pouch at all times:
- Cleanser in the form of cleansing milk or cleansing lotion
- Cotton ball or baby wipes
- Face wash or exfoliating wash
- Moisturizer
- Tube of sunscreen
- Travel sized toothbrush and paste
- Small comb
- Lip liner (preserve the one that is turning to a stub and keep it in the makeup pouch)
- Lipstick
- Hair tie
- Kajal
- Compact
- Roll on foundation or concealer
- Roll on deodorant stick
Once you have your things in place, it is easy to control the damage done. 10 minutes in front of a mirror and water is all you need to set things right!
For the face:
- Use the cleansing milk and the cotton to wipe off all traces of makeup from your face
- You can also use a face wash if one is handy
- Alternatively, use an exfoliating scrub to clean out the skin. Preferably go for a granulated face wash with scrubbing beads or exfoliating granules. These will immediately rejuvenate the dead skin cells of your face.
- Wash your face and pat dry
- Apply a toner if you have one handy, else skip this step
- Apply your sunscreen. This is another must have. It will moisturize and also protect your skin from getting tanned.
- Take two drops of foundation on your hand and rub it together between your palms. Apply evenly on face and neck, making sure you spread it evenly with light patting motions.
- Put on some kajal or kohl liner.
- Outline your lips with a lip liner.
- Apply the lip shade that you are carrying.
For the hair:
- Comb out your hair nicely, removing all knots and tangles.
- Do a back comb to give some lift and bounce to your hair.
- Pick it up and gather back at the back
- Tie it in a bun or a pony tail, whatever your preference.
- Tie it around the crown area to give your face an uplifted and fresh look.
These few easy steps are your best bet to look great when short of time and products. Always remember to clean the face properly before applying anything else. A basic and light makeup will give you that refreshed look. With hardly any effort at all, you will be ready to step out of your friend’s house looking as gorgeous as ever!
