Master the Black Smoky Eye: A Step-by-Step Guide
Black is a tricky color for eyes. When used right it gives the OOMPH effect but when used wrong it gives the Panda effect.
The Black Smokey Eye Makeup is quite popular among celebrities and a perfect look to sizzle the evening parties. Here’s a simple pictorial for creating black smokey eyes.
Products Needed:
- Eye Shadows -Choose a mid-toned black eye-shadow with light shimmers and a light gray eye-shadow.
- Eyelash curler, Eye-shadow brush, Angular Brush and a Blending Brush. ( I don’t have a blending brush yet in my collection so I am using a lip brush which has loosely packed bristles and is slightly fluffy )

Steps:
- Prepare eyes with a primer. As an alternative to primer one can use concealer and pressed powder/loose powder.
- Apply Kajal filling 2/3rdof the eye lid.
- Smudge the Kajal with the help of a sumdger
- Apply the Black eye shadow on the entire eye-lid leaving the inner corner.
- Apply the Gray eye shadow on the inner half of the eye-lid. Refer to the picture for clear understanding.
- Take a blending brush and blend the gray into black. The inner half of the eye-lid should turn into a grayish black shade.
- Pick up more gray color and pat it into the inner corner.
- Swoop the same gray shade in the crease line.
- Blend the colors in the crease line to soften the edges.
- Apply the eye shadows in the lower lash-line as shown in the picture. Extend the black color to meet the corner of the upper eye-line. Also, blend the colors where the eye-shadows join. It creates a graduation.
- Apply Kajal on the water line.
- Pick up pressed powder with an angular brush and place the brush at the outer wing. Please refer to the picture. This creates a perfect contrast which makes the black smokey wing look prominent. Highlight the brow bone with either pressed powder or highlighter.
- Lastly line the upper lash line thinly with a black eye liner( Gel or pencil is recommended ) and apply loads of mascara.
- Clean up any messy fall outs. Done!!!!
