Mastering the Smoky Eye: A Timeless Makeup Look

Smoky eyes have been in fashion for quite some time now. While most eye makeup trends have come and gone, this is one of those looks that has stayed around the longest, and, if the trends are anything to go by, will continue to be around for a long time to come. From high street fashion to models on the ramp to page 3 divas to movie stars, we see celebrities sporting this eye look over and over again. The smokey eye look is a sexy and classy combination that perfectly shows off your eyes. It changes your look instantly from innocent to sensuous.

If you have big, Indian eyes and have been wondering on what new to do with them when you head for a party, your search ends here! You can try on the sexy look with green smokey eye makeup. Intrigued?

Here are two simple yet lovely tutorials for you to get those green smokey eyes.

Green Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial 1:

Step 1:

Start off with a good base – use concealer and foundation on clean lids. Use dark shadow, preferably charcoal on the crease contour and the outer 1/3 of the lid extending in an upper tail.

Step 2:

Use a shade of dark green or moss green on to the remaining 2/3rd of the lid.

Step 3:

Use a medium lining on top and lower rims. Use a charcoal shadow to line below the lower rim

Step 4:

Use silvery shadow on the brow bones and nose-eye junction. Use mascara and/or false lashes and mascara.

Step 1:

  • Clean your eyes with a cotton pad to remove any dirt or traces of old makeup
  • Now prime your eyes with the Nyx Eye shadow base over your eye lids.

Step 2:

  • Apply the Elle18 Green Grenade pencil as a base over your eye lids.

Step 3:

  • Apply the Khaki Green colour from the Faces Quad on your crease
  • Apply the dark green shade from the Lakme Quad on your lid.

Step 4:

  • Blend both the shades properly
  • Avoid leaving any harsh lines behind.
  • Make sure the colour is blended in seamlessly

Step 5:

  • Apply the Revlon Colorstay eyeliner in the shade Glazed Green on your upper lash line
  • Blend this slightly.

Step 6:

  • Now take any brown or black eye shadow of your choice
  • Blend this in on the outer “V” portion and also on 1/4th of your outer lid.

Step 7:

  • Finish off your look with any highlighter, kajal or kohl pencil.
  • It is recommended that you use a good amount of mascara with this look to give it the desired result
  • In case you are not very comfortable with wearing mascara or do not want to use too much of it, that is also fine. You can simply darken your lashes by doing a tight lining of the lashes.

The Final Look:

So this is how the makeup will look once you have gone through all the steps mentioned above. Though this is a very simple to create look, it does give the eyes a wonderful professionally done look. This smokey green eye makeup is great for parties, night outs, formal dos as well as weddings and celebrations. While here we created the look using green as the main colour, you can re-create the look using a dark shade of your choice in any colour. Another thing to always remember is to blend in all colours nicely, as you don’t want any lines or crease on your makeup.

Green Smokey Eye Makeup adds extra drama to Big Eyes. Don’t be afraid to experiment with bold colours. It is a real fun! Do try them out and let us know how you liked the new look!
