A portable ice maker can be an excellent addition to any home. It freezes water far more quickly than a conventional freezer and typically gives you more freedom over the sizes and types of ice cubes you want to create. In order to ensure that your unit continues to dispense the cleanest and best tasting ice, you will occasionally need to give your ice maker a thorough cleaning.
Remove any ice currently in your portable ice maker; the container should be completely empty and unplugged.
Remove the ice tray and set it on a clean surface. For most models, you should have the ability to simply lift or unhook the tray from the water reservoir without any need for tools.
Pour 3 to 4 tbsp. of vinegar on a clean, soft cloth.
Scrub the interior walls of your ice maker with the cloth.
Scrub the ice tray with the cloth.
Rinse the ice maker's interior walls and tray with warm water.
Dry the surfaces completely with a clean towel.
Place the ice tray back in its container.
Scrub the exterior of the ice maker with a cloth and warm water.
