Pilates for Balance: Stabilizing Arm Exercises & Improved Stability

Improve your balance with these stabilised arm movements.

Surprisingly, it is not only the injured or elderly who have poor balance. It is just as common in fit, athletic people. You can improve your balance by doing exercises that bring a change to your usual state of stability. These arm circles using a foam roller will challenge your stability.

Try this: Lie on your back along the length of a foam roller, feet flat on the floor, knees bent and slightly apart, and raise your arms to the ceiling. With your arms fully extended, draw circles in the air over your head and around your body.
