I would like to know if this is a good or a bad thing, since much research conflicts? Some dieters say it is good to eat only fruit for one day t to detox, others say that just water helps the body cleanse itself, especially liver...

Fasting may be considered by some to be "cleansing" and others spiritual.  I think that it depends on your culture whether fasting is important.  From a physiological standpoint, a single day of fasting should not tax the system too much, in my opinion. It depends on how often one fasts that matters more.  I'm afraid I don't have an answer as to how often fasting one may fast and still be "safe".
