Questionin 08 i was 5 weeks pregnant when i sought a surgical abortion, when i went back 3 weeks later for my follow up and was told i was still pregnant they had to repeat the procedure, three weeks after that i went back for my follow up and was told i was still pregnant they had to repeat the procedure, so basically i had 3 surgical abortions for the same pregnancy. my question is how can this affect me.i have recently started having a foul vaginal odor and have been cleared from any STDS. I have been with the same partner and now we are having trouble conceving. could this be due to my past abortion? They never gave me any answers as to what they removed from me the first two times to make them believe the pregnancy was terminated successfully dispite me asking over and over.
AnswerHello, amber,
Unfortunately, there are a couple of possibilities that are not so nice. To begin with, they're supposed to make sure they got everything the first time, but that's a distasteful job, so often they don't do it. Also, it is NOT uncommon for them to CLAIM they didn't get everything so they can collect more money! This problem will be aggravated if the woman tests for pregnancy three weeks afterward, because she is likely to get a positive test because it takes pregnancy hormones awhile to disappear. This may lead her to believe she is still pregnant, and they can take advantage of that. Heck, some abortionists will do abortions on women they know are not even pregnant! Having done extensive research on the abortion picture in the United States, I can only report it is bleak. The back alley abortionists simply moved to the front alley, and are now advertising. They don't fear law enforcement anymore, so they are more careless. Think about what they are doing. They operate blind on some very soft tissue, and they usually take only five minutes. Any doctor who truly cared about the woman wouldn't do abortions in the first place, and if he did do one, he would take longer than five minutes to do it, given what's at stake.
Since you have a foul odor, you should suspect infection. Invading even once can give rise to infection, and three times only increases the chances. And STDs are not the only possibility. That's not to say you don't have an STD. It is possible to get one from the abortion itself, because most abortionists do not sterilize their instruments properly, if at all, so you can get an STD from a previous client. I recommend you get your testing from a doctor who is not affiliated with that facility. Most abortionists will not admit they have harmed a woman in any way. They don't want to get sued.
A surgical abortion can cause infertility for a couple of reasons. Infection is one. Some infections are silent, such as those that cause pelvic inflammatory disease. A woman may not experience any symptoms, but will still be unable to conceive. The second problem is scarring. Given that they did an abortion three times, the chance of excess scarring is correspondingly greater. Scarring can prevent implantation. It can cause implantation to take place too low, resulting in placenta previa, which may make a Caesarian section necessary at time of birth, to prevent the death of mother and child. And it can lead to tubal pregnancy. Be especially vigilant, because the risk of tubal pregnancy will be several times as great for you as a result of these abortions. If you experience pain in early pregnancy, particularly on just one side, see a doctor immediately. If you do get pregnant, be sure to tell your doctor during prenatal care about your history, because you are also at much greater risk for miscarriage or very early birth. Very early birth greatly increases your chance of having a baby with a serious birth defect. There are things the doctor can do to help protect your baby, if he knows there might be a problem.
You also need to be vigilant the rest of your life for other reasons. You are at much greater risk of getting a particularly deadly form of breast cancer. I recommend you take Vitamin D3 daily for the rest of your life. 5000IU is a good dose. You should have your blood tested to make sure you aren't getting too much. Also, you should have regular thermograms. Do not get a mammogram. They can cause or spread breast cancer, and thermograms detect a tumor much earlier.
Nobody will know if you can have a child until you have either become pregnant successfully, or you have tried for a long time and then been tested in many different ways by a doctor.
I'm sorry I can't be more encouraging, but the fact is, abortion ALWAYS damages a woman's body. A woman who has only one abortion has a 14% chance of never conceiving again, while a woman who has had three has a 50% chance of remaining childless for life.
Good luck! Let me know how things turn out, and please take care. Don't take any more chances with your life. You deserve better.
