Tofu and Cholesterol: Benefits & Concerns for Men

Hi Lawrence, I am a middle aged man, thin and physically active. Recently, My doctor told me I had abnormally high cholesterol levels.  Both HDL and LDL levels are high.  As a result, I've transitioned my diet.  More veggies, nuts, and fiber.  One of the foods, Tofu, I've incoporated as a substitute for my red meat intake.  I actually like the stuff.  But recent reports that the intake of 'inphytoestrogens', the stuff in Tofu, in older men may cause a significantly higher risk of demetia and alzheimer's disease.  Should I be concerned about this.  The study was conducted in 2008, can find anything since then to refute this finding

One shouldn't put too much faith on just one study. I recently looked at the health effects of soy, and the review papers on the topic said aside from allergies no real health risks from eating soy. I didn't notice anything about dementia when I was reviewing the evidence.
