Platinum Ring Damage: Causes, Repair & Insurance
QuestionHi, I recently bought a platinum diamond engagement ring. My fiancee and I went to a concert and the next morning found the ring was damaged- bent and dented. We returned to the jeweller who couldn't explain the damage and could only suggest that clapping could have caused this damage. My fiancee was wearing another ring on her other hand which would have impacted on the engagement ring. The only issue is that the other ring is white gold and hasn't sustained even a dent, let alone become misshapen. The engagement ring has since been refurbished but should a platinum ring be so liable to damage? Thanks Si

Platinum is actually a soft metal its the alloys which give it the hardness, its not unusual for rings to bend just by pressing against it, depending on the thickness of the shank, send me a pic and perhaps the jeweler could put a new shank on the ring and make it thicker and wider if possible,
all the best
