Elegant Wedding Invitation Wording with Deceased Mother & Remarried Father

Question
I was wondering how to word the invitations for my upcoming wedding...
1) My mother is deceased (2004)
2) My father has remarried (to a lady I refer to by her first name...I only have ONE mother and no one else is privileged enough to don the name mother except for her!)
3) I want to make sure that my mother is mentioned in the invitations
4) The groom's parents are still married and will be mentioned on the invitations together.

How do I do this??  Thank you, in advance, for your help!
Debbie :o)

Answer
Hi Debbie,
First, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  The first few lines of the invitation are your choice...Please join us for, The pleasure of your company, The honor of your presence, Please join us in celebrating...etc.  Regarding the parents names, it is customary to read as follows after the initial invitation portion:
of
Miss Deborah Elizabeth Jones,
daughter of Mr. Robert Brett Jones
and the late Kathryn Ashmore Jones
to
Mr. Martin Anders Jensen
son of Dr. & Mrs. Robert Anders Jensen
then continue with the rest of the invitation.

Some couples, especially those that are paying for the wedding themselves, choose not to mention any parents names.  Fortunately, today, someone has broken all the rules before you, so as long as it is tasteful and kind, you could choose other optional wording.

I hope this gives you a little more clarity on the issue.
Best Regards,
Brenda C.
