Understanding Ovarian Cysts: Causes, Risk Factors & Management

Question
hi!

im Niel and i'm only 20.. i was diagnosed with ovarian cysts on both ovaries recently. they were small though but in both ovaries. my ovaries are a bit big in sizes too.. my gynecologist said there's no need for an operation until i decided to get married.. i couldn't get it :/

for now, im taking naproxen 2x/day PRN for pain and was told to refer for severe pain.

please help me understand more about it.. its causes and the factors that may contribute in having such. why did it occur at this very young age? i've regular menses.. but everytime it gets nearer,it's very painful :/

Answer
niel;

a cyst is a sac filled with fluid. most ovarian cysts are harmless and disappear of their own accord. often,they are noncancerous[benign]and dont cause symptoms. other types of cysts warrant attention. your doctor may find one or more cysts during a routine pelvic examination.

your not alone this happens alot with women in the midteens to twenties.

most ovarian cysts go away without treatmnet. its a watch and wait situation,seeing if they get bigger,or just disappear.

i hope all this helps;
