Targeted Lower Body Workout & Nutrition Advice for Small Frame

Question
Hi Sarah

I am 26 years old female, with height 154am and weight about 46kg. I am generally small in size, but my lower body i.e. thigh, butt and calves are big and has quite a lot of fat. I have cellulite on these areas too.

Can you please advise on the proper advise and maybe some food for me to take?

I have a big gym ball at home, so I was thinking if you could recommend some exercise using the gym ball.

Thanks..

Answer
Hi Jessica,
For your circumstances my advice would be some cardiovascular exercise, some resistance training exercises, and good nutrition. You can easily do resistance training exercises at home. Body weight exercises such as squats, lunges, bridges, standing calf raises (up on your toes), push ups etc. With your exercise ball you can do back extensions and various exercises for the abs/core. Doing this 2-3 days a week is plenty. For cardiovascular exercise you can either go for walks/jogs outside 3-4 days a week, or do aerobics videos right in your home.
Everyone's nutritional needs are different. In order to lose the fat you will have to be eating fewer calories than you burn. However, you have to be careful not to go too low in calories or the body will be missing out on what it needs and fat loss will stall. Try to eat small frequent meals, and get plenty of lean proteins, good carbs such as fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains, and small servings of good fats.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
