Hydroxycut Side Effects & Weight Loss Concerns: A Health Perspective

Question
QUESTION: I have been taking hydroxycut for three to four weeks now, and have been doing cardio 3 to 5 times a week. I try to eat low fat foods but I have only lost 6 lbs. what advice can u give me. And also I have been having periods when my heart seems to stall and then start back up again, or skip beats. Do you think this is from the hydroxycut. I only take 2 to 3 pills a day, total and do not have any other caffeinated products. THANKS for your help.

ANSWER: Hi Vanessa,
Your progress actually sounds perfect. It's best to lose 1-2 pounds a week. When you lose more than that you risk losing muscle mass, which will further slow down your metabolism and make future weight loss harder. The body can only lose so much fat at once. If you lose weight to fast there is also the risk that you aren't giving the body what it needs in terms of nutrition.
There is a good chance that the feeling in your heart is from the Hydroxycut. That's a common side effect. You may want to try not taking it for a few days and see if it goes away. If it doesn't, of course see your doc.
Just try to be patient and hang in there. Weight loss takes time. Keep in mind that weight that is lost slowly is much more likely to stay off permanently. With good nutrition and a solid exercise program you can keep steadily losing the weight until you are at your goal.

QUESTION: hi sarah, thanks for your help. I did stop using the hydroxycut for 3 days and i gained 4 lbs back. Is that normal? The heart palpatations did stop except for one episode. I feel like i'm back where i started. I'm not sure if i should just keep taking the hydroxycut until I lose the 15 lbs that i want to. It does curb my appetite and it gives me alot of energy. Is there anything that u would recomend instead? THANKS, vanessa

Answer
Hi Vanessa,
Chances are the weight gain is all or almost all water. In that amount of time it's almost impossible to gain more than just a tiny bit of fat. So try not to worry about that.
It sounds like the hydroxycut was causing some palpitations, so honestly I don't think you should take it. A lot of people find that just taking in caffeine from coffee and tea helps give them energy and curb their appetite. If you find yourself feeling hungry a lot and tired often it may be that your nutrition is lacking something.
Let me know if I can help more.
