QuestionI work out regularly with a trainer. I struggle with severe muscle soreness and long recovery periods. I take Bromelain but was wondering if there is an alternative suppliment that I can take to aid in the process of muscle recovery. I strech, ice, ibuprofen, high protien all those things. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks
AnswerHi Jeanie,
I'm big on getting the body in balance and if it is in balance then your recovery should be less and not as painful. As long as you've been doing it consistently for a while. If not, and you've just started then it is perfectly normal to be sore for the first few weeks or so.
What I suggest you do to get your body in balance is go a couple of weeks eating really good, nutritious, non processed, quality proteins, complex carbs and good fats. Eat plenty of green, leafy veggies and drink heaps of water. Let your body naturally detox and cleanse itself.
If you're looking for a supplement..I recommend the amino acid: Glutamine. It aids in muscle recovery and is one of the most abundant amino acid in the body. But when you do weights and stuff your natural levels might be low. So you can supplement with this and it should help.
