Risk of Preterm Labor in Close-Together Pregnancies: A Concerned Mother's Question
QuestionI went into preterm labor with my first son at 35 weeks and dilated 3 centimeters (edd may 18/03). I was stopped due to lack of facilities for premature babies. He was then born on may 15/03. I got pregnant again in aug/o3 (edd may 7/04). I have heard that having two pregnancies so close together will cause a lower birthweight of the baby and I may go into preterm labor. What are the chances of me going into labor early again? I also have problems with my blood levels since I lost a lot of blood due to a retained placenta. It has dropped for 11.6 down to 10.0. I am taking iron pills 3x's a day. Will this also have any effect on an preterm birth?
Thanks, Jodi

remember each pregnancy is different and you may sail thru this one without problems, however, anemia can cause problems and may have preterm problems, I would make sure you are followed closely and if you have any problems make sure you see about them promptly.
