Knee Pain During Pregnancy: Causes & What to Expect
Question36yr 1st pregnancy last period march 29 04
i have a painful cramp on the back of my knee and is geting worst is this because of my pregnancy?
AnswerAt 5 weeks gestation, the only symptoms of pregnancy that you will have now are fatigue, nausea, breast tenderness, and (possibly) increase in urination. YOu will start to get pains in your groin ("round ligament syndrome"), which is pain upon rising from bed or from a chair or when suddenly turning when walking, due to a stretching of the round ligaments (the ligaments that anchor your uterus to the sidewalls of your abdomen). It is a bit early to have sciatic nerve pain (shooting pain down your leg from pressure on the sciatic nerve). You can have cramps on the back of your knees whether you are pregnant or not. Try tylenol or warm soaks to your knees. Good Luck on your pregnancy.
