Pregnancy & Salon Chemicals: Risks & Safety for Nail Technicians & Estheticians

My wife is interested in becoming a nail technician/Facial professional, working in a salon. Her potential employer said she would have to wear a mask if she became pregnant. What exactly are the health concerns with these chemicals and is there somewhere where I can find more information?

I do not know what these professionals are exposed to in the workplace. I do know that there is no problems with manicures and nail polish during pregnancy. HOwever, I do not know what other chemicals are present or in use during facials. Certainly stipping solutions, bleach, and hair dyes can be caustic. I know of no danger to pregnancy in a salon.
