QuestionHi Doc. My wife is 15wks pregnant. Following a "missed miscarriage" a few months ago, and bearing in mind she's in her mid 30s we're nervous and careful. Thing is, she's getting terrible headaches. Are any painkillers acceptable?
Cheers.
AnswerYour wife can safely take Tylenol, Extra strength Tylenol, Tylenol with codeine during the pregnancy for headaches, or abdomenal pain. She should not take any Motrin, Advil, Ponstel, Ibuprofen, or Aspirin. By the way, "missed abortions" occur in 15-20% of every pregnancy. There is nothing one can do to prevent one and nothing to do to cause one. She does not have to be "careful". Just continue to go about your activities and lifestyle as you would if you were not pregnant. Good luck to you.
