Yeast Infections in Pregnancy: Safety & Treatment Concerns

For a yeast infection during pregnancy, why was I directed to not insert the applicator far into the vagina?  

I am holding off starting my treatment until I have my vaginal ultrasound in a few days to check my cervical length (This is a safety percaution since I had a previous LEEP and we are doing this regularly during my pregnancy).  I was afraid that the probe of the ultrasound and the gel would interfere with my treatment.  The probe would push the medication up higher in the vaginal tract and since they said don't insert the applicator too far into the vagina that is why I am waiting.  My YI isn't full-blown...will I be okay waiting?

We do not want you to cause bleeding by irritating the cervix. The transvaginal probe will not cause any problems.It does not matter if the Cleocin or Metrogel is pushed high into the vagina.You certainly can wait a few days to start the yeast medication.

The longer you do not treat a yeast infection, the skin will get itchier and more and more red and inflamed. It will really hurt. However, it is not dangerous to leave a yeast infection untreated for a few days. I would not wait much longer than that.
