Trying to Conceive After Stopping NuvaRing: Timing & Fertility

Question
My husband and I are ready to have a baby. On July 30, 2008 I remove my ring. August 1-2 we had sex;but now I'm on my cycle. After my cycle do you think we can start trying or Do it take a long time for the ring have to be out before getting pregnant? WE ARE READY! HELP

Answer
Typically you want to wait until 1 to 2 menstrual cycles have passed to start trying for conception. As with any other type of birth control, it takes slightly longer to conceive after stopping the method of birth control. Each and every patient conceives at their own pace. I would say the average time it takes for conception to occur after use of nuva ring is 2-6 months. Be patient, your body needs to adjust. You are still able to continue trying. If you appear to be having difficulties conceiving after the 6 month mark, make an appointment with your OB/GYN and talk to them about your concerns. Best of luck to you both.
