QuestionI have had three miscarraiges 2 in one year all around 8-9 weeks, the heart stopped beating and the doctors cant give me a reason why.I have a 10 year old son, different father then my husband so infertility is not the reason. Are there tests that me and my husband should take to find out the cause of this?
AnswerHello Tonneda,
Technically you have a disorder called "Habitual or Reurrent Abortion." You need to undergo an evaluation that will include genetic testing in both you and your husband, immune system testing, infectious disease testing, hormonal testing, pelvic ultrasound and hysteroscopy.
It is too bad that none of the fetal specimens were sent for genetic testing, because the most common reason for late miscarriage (after heart beat is seen) is because of a severe fetal anomaly. This means that there was probably a chromosomal defect.
