QuestionI lost a child at 32 weeks gestation due to Pre-E and IUGR. It's since been discovered that I also am homozygous for MTHFR C677T. I have 2 questions: 1. Have you read or studied anything regarding Vitamin D supplements in pregnancy helping prevent or lower Pre-E? 2. I've read (from an unreliable source...) that the shorter the time between pregnancies the less likely you are to have pre-e again. Meaning, it's been 6 months since we lost the baby- if I waited another year to conceive, would my odds of pre-e be higher or lower? Or is time not a factor at all?
Thanks in advance!

AnswerHello Laura from the U.S.,
I am sorry but I am not a Perinatologist so have limited knowledge of high risk obstetrics. However, that being said, I have not read anyhing relating Vitamin D and preeclampsia, and I do a lot of readin to maintain my Board certfication. I have also not read anything in regards to the timing of the next pregnancy and risk of pre-eclampsia. Once you have had preeclampsia, you are forever at risk of it with subsequent pregnancies. That means that your doctor needs to watch you very closely for the signs of it and manage it appropriately. With proper management, you can have a successful outcome.
Good luck,
