QuestionI had an abdominal cat scan done and the results showed inflammed gastric antrum.
What is it and what does it mean?
COud it be an ulcer ?
Thanks
AnswerYes, that sounds exactly like an ulcer. I assume the doctor who ordered the testing put you on an anti-ulcer medication, such as an H2 blocker like Zantac or a PPI like Nexium, Prilosec, Protonix, Aciphex, Prevacid.
The gastric Antrum is the place where an ulcer would typically develop. The non-drug therapies would be lots of maalox also, stop smoking if you do, and decrease or stop alcohol if you drink.
Hope this helps...
