Understanding Year-Round Allergies: Causes and Management

Question
I have year-round allergies; I have tried to isolate the cause with no success. I have read that there are three primary causes of year-round allergies: Dust mites in your bed, pets, and diet.

I have been suffering since I was 16 with these allergies. They vary from day to day, and from place to place and time to time. To put it simply: it's always random when I'll have allergy issues. I rarely have them in the morning, which makes me believe it could not be dust mites. I went from having outside pets, to inside pets, to no pets, back to inside pets with no noticable change. I have also completely overhauled my diet in the past few years, so I don't believe it could be diet related.

Are there other causes for year-round allergies? Or are there other conditions I should look into that might cause allergy-like symptoms?

Answer
Hi David,
There are more causes to allergy symptoms than you mention. Allergies can be notoriously hard to pinpoint. In fact, are you sure that you HAVE allergies in the first place? Could you have chronic sinusitis from a mechanical obstruction in the airways? How about a low level asthma? I think that it would be best to be evaluated and tested for allergies so you can be more appropriately treated. Allergies are not benign and can take their toll on your health if not treated.
