I am thinking about conceiving how long after the cessation of this drug can i start safely trying how long will the drug stay in my system after completely stopping. Also how should i try to wean off this med with minimal side effects i tried once before and became very ill. thankyou

While we do not advise or treat, it is always best to consult the doctor who prescribed the Effexor, since it takes at least 2 weeks to safely taper off this drug and pregancy is usually safe after 3 months. Ask your doctor about taking omega-3 fish oil at 3000mg four times a day to ease the taper, control your anxiety and depression and ensure the health of the child.
