QuestionHi!
I just turned 50.I have no health issues, dont smoke or drink, and am quite active.
My only concern is the large belly I carry and my weight.
At 5'8",waist size is 36', I am 225 pounds.
This sounds high, but I have worked out with weights for many years so much of this is muscle.
What is the average weight for a guy like me? Also, what health concerns show up in the fifties?
My Dad and uncles had colon cancer and diabetes, but I eat lots of fruits and veggies and watch the sugar.
Thanks!
AnswerHi Barry,
In your 50's you need to be checked for hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes and Prostate cancer. In other words, a comprehensive history and physical exam is a good idea. Your weight, based on height should be 125 to 160 pounds. Technically your current weight puts you into the obese category.
Unfortunately, one can eat properly and exerccise and if heredity is put into the mix, can have disease issues none-the-less.
