Understanding and Addressing the Physical Changes of Midlife (48+)

Question
Hi
At 48,nstead of aging gracefully as I had hoped,I seem to be goin down hill fast.
In the past two years,my curly brown hair is limp and gray.
My eyes are failing fast and I am on my third pair of reading glasses.
My weight keeps going up and my waist out.
I have lots of senior moments when I forget things.
All this in spite of the fact I eat healthy, take vitamins and supplements, and exercise regularly.
Even people I havent seen for a while notice I look older(this was confided to me by a close buddy).
I have had two complete medicals lately and I checked out OK on each.
Is this a common form of the aging process?
Anything I can do?

Answer
Barry,

Anti-aging is my specialty of interest so you are asking the right person.  Most likely this is a premature condition for someone your age.  Most folks are affected in their mid to late 60's.  However, I have come across several patients who exhibit premature aging based on some of the criteria you mentioned.  Metabolic slowing, overt signs of aging such as hair color, skin, etc.

You will need to seek medical evaluation by an anti-aging or longevity physician because there are some tests that most primary care docs don't do.  For example, gonadal hormone evaluation as well as growth hormone testing (IGF-1, IGF-BP3) and a few others.

In the mean while visit www.vitasanus.com for information on the best anti-aging supplement (Longevity Pack System) which I formulated (I have NO monetary interest in this company as I have sold it a year ago).  Also would do you good to read my book on Adaptogen Herbs (Wonder Herbs: A guide to three Adaptogens".  Jiaogulan for example is called the immortality tea by the Chinese for it's anti-aging properties.  You can find my book on Amazon.com or www.xlibris.com/WonderHerbs.

Lastly I offer tele-medicine consultations via my web site.    I have patients all over the USA that I manage with aging concerns.

In good health,
