Stalled Weight Loss: Why You're Not Seeing Results (Even with Diet & Exercise)

Question
I have managed to bring my belt in three notches, and I look better in the mirror, through a combination of exercise and diet.
I am also taking vitamin B12, CLA, and I stopped eating margerine, which I believe is helping.
What is frustrating however is that my weight has not changed, I am the same 240 pounds give or take I was when I started two months ago.
I have heard about muscle weighing more than fat but I a not lifting weights just pedaling a stationary bike.
Is this a common thing for someone my age? (52)
When I was young I could drop and gain weight fairly easily, but now the scale is stuck, and yes it does work.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Answer
Gord,

Yes, at 52 it is hard to fight the midsection bulge.  Mostly due to changes in metabolism surrounding a decline in Testosterone and other factors.  Fat is less dense than muscle that is true and even stationary bike work will promote more muscle growth/tone as you loose adipose tissue.  Better than a scale is a body fat scale (a device that uses body impedence to calculate % body fat) Obesity is considered >30.  Ideal would be in the 20's or lower.

Make sure your Testosterone levels are optimal, Make sure your thyroid is functioning at its best.  There are medication I use in my practice that help with weight loss and anti-aging (Metformin is an example).

Get your hormones tested (test., thyroid)and if you wish a consultation, I do provide telemedicine services for this very thing.  www.saleeby.net for more info.
