QuestionHi Debbie,
I am over 35 and expecting baby #4. It seems as though most everyone I speak to think b/c of my age and this being baby #4....I won't make it to my due date. Are there any statistical studies related to age and subsequent children?
AnswerHello,
I have not found any legitimate studies on that, but the "theory" is that since your uterus has done this 3 times before, your labors may be earlier, shorter and faster. As for age, that's not always a factor.
Being over 35 can increase the chances of induction, c/sections, increased testing and interventions.
The general undertones spoken around hospitals and doctors offices is to watch the "older" mom more closely and get her delivered by 38-39 weeks.
Sorta silly.
There no guarantee you'll make it to your due date, but only your baby knows :)
Good luck with everything and congrats on baby 4!
