Question I just recently found out that I might have a different dad than my brothers and sister. My question is: My mother had sex on January 1, 1973. Is it possible for me to have been born on October 3rd? I don't know when her last period was. If you could help it would be very helpful. Thanks, Sheila
AnswerIt is possible that if you know for a fact your mother had sex on that day that you could have been born on October 3rd. Sperm can stay viable in a woman for 5 days after. In addition, you could have been born late (the due date for a January 1st conception date in 1973 would be September 25th or 26th).
I recommend getting a DNA test if you're concerned about your paternity. If you don't wish to alert your parents to this, you could get one of your brothers or sister to donate a sample to test against. If your mother had sex with the father of your brothers and sister at any time during that period, he couldn't be ruled out as your biological father as well except through a DNA test.
