Understanding the Six Pillars of Faith in Islam

The Six Pillars of Iman (faith) in Islam are:

1. Belief in Allah (God): This includes believing in His existence, His oneness (Tawhid), His attributes, and His actions. It encompasses understanding that He is the sole creator, sustainer, and sovereign of the universe, and that He is unlike anything in creation.

2. Belief in the Angels: Believing that Allah created angels, that they are real beings made of light, and that they carry out Allah's commands. Examples include Jibril (Gabriel), who delivers revelations, and Mika'il (Michael), who is associated with rain and sustenance.

3. Belief in the Books (Scriptures): Believing in all the books that Allah revealed to His prophets, including the Torah (Tawrat) revealed to Moses (Musa), the Psalms (Zabur) revealed to David (Dawud), the Gospel (Injil) revealed to Jesus (Isa), and the Quran revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon them all). Muslims believe the Quran is the final and complete revelation, abrogating previous scriptures.

4. Belief in the Messengers (Prophets): Believing in all the prophets and messengers sent by Allah, starting with Adam (Adam) and including Noah (Nuh), Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), Jesus (Isa), and Muhammad (peace be upon them all). Muslims believe Muhammad is the last prophet sent by Allah.

5. Belief in the Last Day (Day of Judgment): Believing in the Day of Judgment, also known as Yawm al-Qiyāmah, when all people will be resurrected and judged by Allah for their actions in this life. This includes belief in life after death, paradise (Jannah), and hellfire (Jahannam).

6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qadar): Believing that everything that happens, both good and bad, is by the will and knowledge of Allah. This includes the belief that Allah has predetermined everything, but that humans still have free will and are responsible for their actions.

These six pillars are considered fundamental to Islamic faith, and believing in all of them is essential for a Muslim.
