Copper IUD Post-Insertion Bleeding: What to Expect & When to Worry
QuestionI had a copper iud placement on the 5th of october and was not on my period after they inserted it i got home and began to bleed over the next couple of days i began to bleed heavily and began using a pad and tampon and changing it every hour or so, so i called the doctor and he gave me some pills to take to help with the bleeding, I stopped on the 12th of October, then the next Thursday began spotting again during the day only not at night I have to wear a pad as panyliners are not enough and am still bleeding to this day does this seem normal? Should I have it removed? What other types of birth control is there that is easy and hassle free? I forget to take pills sometimes so that would not be good, do you have any suggestions?? please e-mail me ASAP
Thank you
Crystal
AnswerHi Crystal..
Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor and I'm suprised that your doctor does not seem more concerned about your bleeding. Can you get a 2nd opinion from another doctor? Like I said, I'm not a medical professional but to me, this is a cause for concern. I would not recommend the IUD because I have read much on it and think that it's not healthy. Yes, you have to take the birth control pills very carefully and on time for it to be even partially effective.
I don't recommend any hormonal birth control methods because of side effects. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and we can talk more. I can't email you until you send me your email address.
Thanks.
