Contraceptive Options After Your Second Child: A Guide for Women in Their 30s
QuestionHi
Im in my late 30's am 26 wks pregnant & am NOT planning anymore surprises! Over the years i have tried a small number of Pills & after my 1st child had the Mirena coil (no probs)Had 2nd Mirena & reacted/sensitive to it so had it removed. My local family planning clinic gave me a mini-pill but I have been a migrane sufferer for some 20ish yrs so i know my choices are limited but i had to stop the POP due to an increase in head-aches, raising BP & weight gain. Is the modern 'ordinary' coil an option? & how long after bump arrives can it be fitted? does it increase period probs ( i had NO bleed with the Mirena, but was somewhat bloated??)...do i have any options left!?
Many thanks
AnswerHi Donnydon,
Are you married? The reason I'm asking is because I really don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control methods. I have done much research and in my opinion, there are too many risks and side effects from these hormonal methods. I know condoms and Natural Family Planning are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy but better healthwise. I wanted to understand your situation and lifestyle better so I can advise you.
