Answer
Hello Sarah,

1. age

28 years old

2.What are your own thoughts on abortion?

I think it should be available to those who choose to take that path. Adoption isn't always the answer.

Should the government be involved in making the decision?

The government has no right in the decision making process. It's a purely personal decision.

Have your thoughts changed at all?

Only that the decision may bear impact later in life when a woman decides to start a family. I know that it will be an issue with me but everybody is different.

What do you think changed your views? (i.e. personal experience)

My personal experience. I believe support or lack thereof from partner, family and friends makes a huge difference in how a woman heals.

3. What have you done to support this social issue?

I have joined Allexperts.com as a volunteer as a way of helping to educate others about the abortion experience.

Are you a part of any organization? i.e. NOW (National Organization for Women, NARAL?

No I haven't. I abhor organizations who ask for monetary support.

4.What do you think can be done to change the current thinking on the issue? i.e education, marches?

Education is the key I think. Parents educating their children early in life to prevent the misfortune of unplanned and unwanted pregnancies. Then the battle would be half won. Marches achieve nothing.

5.Under what conditions would it be possible for abortion to be legal? (any reason, been raped, poor)

I believe any reason because if a woman truly does not want that child, you can be sure once the baby is born he/she will carry a heavy burden. A baby deserves to be born into a loving and nurturing environment, not like that.

6.When should an abortion be performed and why?

As early as possible because its not fair on the woman or baby to let the pregnancy progress any longer.

7.What do you think about the current views on the issue?

I don't take notice much of the current views on abortion. Only my own.

What do you think about the Pro-Life views and beliefs?

Pro-Lifer's views should be respected as anyone elses but
Its when they (impose) their views on others that I think it is wrong.

8.What does Pro Choice and Pro Life mean to you?

They are just names to me. I support pro choice but don't want to be labelled as one. I am more of a fence sitter.

How would you describe them?

Pro choice is obvious to me, it empowers us with the knowledge of free will and Pro Life is encouraging all that is life. Both are positive terms but are not necessarily representing positive people.

9.Does your religious background influence your views?

It used to

If so, in what way?

In a negative way. I was brought up in the Greek Orthodox religion which I no longer am a part of. Initially I was concerned about my decision from a religious point of view but now that I am older and wiser I'm not concerned about any wrong doing on my part. I think the opposite, I made a noble decision.

10. Why do you think abortion should be legal?

In order to avoid backyard abortions, risking the health of millions of women worldwide.

~ I hope this is of help
