QuestionQUESTION: A friend of mine had a medical abortion on 1/23/10 for a 4wk pregnancy LMP.She bled for seven days and stopped spotting on 2/1/10.Between 2/12/ and 2/14/ she had unprotected sex severally but took Postinor2 on 2/14.Her period was expected to start on 2/22 but didn't so she's worried she might have taken in.On 2/23 she noticed mucus in her vagina but said it was whitish & sticky. As i write this, she says it feels slippery and less cloudy.Though this could mean she's about to ovulate & she hasn't had any cramp, sore breasts or nausea but complains of headache which i think is due to anxiety and a bit of waist pain,i wouldn't want to jump to conclusions as she doesn't have access to a preg test kit. She had a test after abortion which read negative & confirmed that d procedure was successful. My question therefore is,does this mean she's pregnant? Having read your response to people's questions,i hope you'll be of tremendous help to us.Thanks..
Worried Paul from Nigeria.
ANSWER: Hi worried Paul from Nigeria/Poland (??)
Periods after an abortion are confusingly irregular. Unpredictable also. Donot reckon with days of infertility or anything.
When the test s negative there is no problem as long as you stop to have unprotected sex.
When people are nervous and anxious they find all sorts of physical signs. You say that correctly.
To stop worrying helps a lot.

QUESTION: From the above response,do i conclude that she is not pregnant or does she have to wait till she is able to have a pregnancy test later this week.
AnswerDear Paul,
I cannot examine her, so....how should I know ?
Mother nature plays strange tricks with us, and no woman is alike.
If she worries she has to abstain from UNPROTECTED sex for a while (3 weeks) and do a pregtest.
Then we know what happend. Cross your fingers.
Bye for now,
Dr Shan
